RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Unofficial results from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections show that Richmond Heights residents have voted to recall Mayor Miesha Headen.
With nine of nine precincts reporting Tuesday night, 1,573 votes were to recall her; 1,163 votes were to keep her in office.
A group formed a petition to recall the mayor.
The petition was ultimately verified by the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, who then scheduled the special election.
The mayor, who has been in office less than a year, claims the seven-member city council has resisted efforts to reform city government. Council members say she's to blame for government instability which includes 18 city employees leaving or being fired since she came into office; some have filed lawsuits.
