Pedestrian hit, killed after moving deer from road in Akron

AKRON, Ohio — Police have identified a pedestrian hit and killed on state Route 224 in Akron Monday morning as Randall R. Seaver, 58, of New Franklin.

Two lanes of state Route 224 East in Akron were closed for several hours after he was hit and killed at an off ramp early this morning.

According to Akron police, it happened shortly after 6 a.m. on state Route 224 East at the Main Street off ramp.

Police at the scene say the victim was driving an SUV when he hit a deer. He got out of his vehicle to move the deer and was getting back into his vehicle when another SUV hit and killed him.

The other driver. a 31-year-old female, did stop. No charges have been filed against her.

Two lanes of traffic were shut down while authorities investigate what exactly happened.
