Two killed in Copley Township crash

COPLEY TOWNSHIP, OH - A single car crash has taken the lives of two people in Summit County.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports that at around 8:30 Saturday evening, a Nissan 300 Z was driving at a high rate of speed north on Hametown Road in Copley Township. The driver lost control of the car, traveled off the left side of the road into a ditch and hit several trees. The car came to a stop resting on its roof.

The two people inside the car,  Alec M. Leatherman, 21, from Wadsworth, Ohio and Halle N. Schmidt, 19, from Copley, Ohio were trapped inside the overturned car. Crews had to cut them out of the vehicle, but both were pronounced dead at the crash.

The Patrol is still investigating.
