TWINSBURG, OH – A successful rescue in a Twinsburg park yesterday has underscored the importance of safe hiking practices, now that the weather is getting nicer and people are heading outside again.
Twinsburg Fire and Rescue was called out at 8:30 last night to Liberty Road Ledges Park to assist in finding a lost man with a “medical issue”. Teams began searching on foot and with a small ATV. At the same time, they worked with cellular phone companies to “ping” the lost man’s cell phone. Within half an hour, the man had been found in a wooded area. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Rescue crews are reminding hikers that when they are in a large park, they should always stay on marked trails, know where they are at all times and carry a cell phone. In this case, the cell phone was key to finding the lost hiker so quickly.
