TUSCARAWAS COUNTY - The Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Department is searching for a suspect after a deadly home invasion Thursday morning.

Officials say a 911 call was made around 4:10 a.m. from Midvale Estates in Midvale.

It came from a 17-year-old who lives in a mobile home with his dad and his dad's girlfriend.

39-year-old Darlene Renner was killed after suffering multiple stab wounds. Her boyfriend and the teen's father was working at the time of the murder.

The teenager told deputies that he woke up to screaming in his dad's room where Darlene was sleeping.

He then grabbed a loaded shotgun and went into the room.

He tried to push the door open, but the bed was blocking the door

He told officials that once he was able to get inside the room, he saw an African-American male in dark clothing with a beard on top of Darlene.

He told police the man jumped off of Darlene and chased him down the hall.

There was an altercation and the teen says he dropped the gun and took off in his dad's car. The teen is currently being held at a juvenile detention facility on a separate charge.

He is not considered a suspect.

Now authorities are searching for a suspect and are still processing the scene with Ohio BCI.
