TORONTO — Cleveland Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer’s bloody pinky stole the show during Game 3 of the ALCS.
His right pinkie started bleeding pretty bad during the bottom of the first inning, and he had to leave the game. He’d injured it while working on his drone.
“I felt on my ring finger a little bit of blood,” Bauer after the game. “I looked down, saw it was bleeding. I figured my only chance to stay in the game is to end at bat…get in the dugout, hope to stop the bleeding, but you know, sometimes the circumstances aren’t in your favor. Good teams overcome and finally win, so I’m glad we were able to do that today.”
Instantly, hashtags like #bloodypinky started trending on social media.
After the team’s win, Bauer himself Tweeted a photo of his shoes that got a little “dirty” during the game.
1) what a W!! 2) my cleats got a bit dirty. 3) loudest standing ovation I've gotten walking off the mound. 🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯… pic.twitter.com/1VUozRBSaG
