CUYAHOGA FALLS, OH – A driver escaped being hit by a train in Cuyahoga Falls on Saturday, June 27, when their car got stuck on train tracks.

“There have been a lot of accidents there, I know recently they put in those white lines to keep people from turning too soon onto the entrance ramp to Route 8 North,” said Phil Ledgerwood, who works near the accident scene.

It happened on the tracks that border Route 59 near Broad Avenue at around 11:45 p.m. Cuyahoga Falls police tell Fox 8 that the driver turned onto the tracks to enter the expressway and got stuck. The driver was able to get out of the car before it was hit and is fine, as is the train engineer.

“Watch where you are going people, always know that any mistakes can happen,” said James Cosper, who walks near the intersection often.

The car was removed and the train is now back in service.
