EUCLID, Ohio (WJW) — A deadly accident that shut down a stretch of Interstate 90 near Euclid for several hours overnight is under investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol told FOX 8 a car hit the back of a paint truck. The driver of the car then got out of his vehicle and was killed when another car hit his car and he became pinned against the paint truck.
The incident happened just before 11 p.m. on Wednesday, along I-90 West near East 222nd Street.
Officials have identified the man killed as Donald Ray Mills Thompson, 51. Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said the other driver suffered minor injuries. The operators of the paint truck were not hurt.
Troopers do not suspect impairment was a factor in the crash. Charges are pending the outcome of an investigation, which is ongoing.
The highway reopened just before 2 a.m. on Thursday.
