TOP FOX8.COM HEADLINES OF 2013
Their stories had been told without an ending for years. What happened to Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus?
We found out in 2013, when the headline blared, “Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus Found Alive.”
That headline was soon revised to reflect the bigger story — Michelle Knight, who had also been abducted years ago, was found alive, too.
You’re probably not surprised this and related stories — from the women’s escape to their captor’s trial to his eventual suicide — were the most popular on FOX8.com this year.
The mystery of the missing girls held strong in the news spotlight long after they were plucked from their daily lives to endure a decade of torture on Seymour Avenue.
When the women broke free on May 6, they became symbols of hope and survival, proving good can — and does — trump evil.
Sadly, many stories end in death and loss, and those stories also touch the community in a very deep day.
Here are the 2013 headlines that attracted the most readers on FOX8.com.
We’ve listed the top four local and top four national stories. We ask that you tell us which additional story in each category impacted you the most.
