Second Hawken student has died after crash in Gates Mills, school closed Friday

GATES MILLS, Ohio- Four Hawken School students were involved in a crash in Gates Mills on Thursday.

The crash happened at about 1:37 p.m. on County Line Road near Gray Eagle Chase. Gates Mills police said the car went off the side of the road and hit a tree.

The 18-year-old occupants were taken to Hillcrest Hospital, where one was pronounced dead. Within several hours of the accident, a second student had died, according to Hawken School officials.

The severity of the others injuries is unknown.

Hawken School will also be closed tomorrow, but open from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. for grief counseling.

Hawken School officials said the four teens are seniors.

Hawken School's upper campus, which houses grades nine through 12, is located on County Line Road.
