She’s the host of “Rehab Addict” on DIY Network and HGTV and now Nicole Curtis can add “friend of LeBron James” to her resume.

Curtis has teamed up with James and the LeBron James Family Foundation to rehab some homes in the Akron area.

“LeBron James has this great foundation out of Akron and out of the blue they gave me a call last winter and said ‘Hey, would you have time to work with LeBron?'” Curtis said during a live interview on Fox 8 News Thursday morning. “I have a 16-year-old son and as soon as I said ‘LeBron James’ on the phone, because he was in the car since we were on our way to school, that was the end of it. This is a dream come true for me, but as a mom, it’s been nice to be kind of the coolest mom right now ever.”

Curtis said James has been putting in his fair share of hard work.

“LeBron’s been here every day with me. This is a family affair for him. His mom’s been out. His wife’s been out. The boys have been out,” she said. “The other day I got to teach Bronny and Bryce how to drive a skid steer. That was a lot of fun. Everyone’s just pitching in.”

An Akron middle schooler, named Mariah, and her family, are the main beneficiary of all of the hard work. Because of her effort in school and in her community, the girl was selected to receive a complete home renovation for her family.

“It was a matter of the student. We had a lot to choose from,” Curtis said. “LeBron’s foundation is amazing. Because they have taken so many of these kids that might have just fallen through the cracks of the school systems and they’ve just kept them on track. So there was so many to choose from. I was part of that. Let me tell you it was heartbreaking.. You want to do something for everyone.”

Curtis said they are doing smaller projects on other houses in the area, but Mariah’s family is the only one getting a whole house renovation.

As for working with LeBron, Curtis credits his midwest upbringing for making him such a great guy.

“Many people see LeBron as this big superstar, but from what I know of LeBron and his foundation and his family, he’s a dad, a neighbor, he’s a community member. It’s so cool that I can now call him a friend.”

Curtis isn’t sure of the exact air date(s) for the episode(s) of “Rehab Addict” featuring LeBron James. But she expects it to air sometime in late fall.

“We have to finish the house first,” she said.
