CLEVELAND, Ohio — It’s the most wonderful time of the year for beer lovers — the tapping of the Christmas Ale keg.

The holiday favorite will go on tap at the Great Lakes Brewing Company Taproom today at 11 a.m. Santa Claus will make a special appearance and co-owner Pat Conway will recite the winning poem from the “First Pour Poetry Contest”. After that, the bartender elves will serve the season’s first glass to the winner. Then the brew is up for grabs for all customers.

You have to drink the beer at the bar. The GLBC says no jug or growler fills are allowed for the first few days.

The GLBC Christmas Ale will be available in 6-packs in the gift shop beginning on Thursday, November 1st at 10 a.m. Growlers and jugs can be filled beginning the same day at 11:30 a.m.

The beer will be available in stores sometime in early November.
