BRUNSWICK HILLS, Ohio — A teenager wanted in four counties was arrested after a police chase early Friday morning.

Brandon Elder, 19, of Litchfield, was taken into custody by the Medina County Sheriff’s Office and the Medina Police Department.

It all started with a Brunswick Hills police officer who tried to pull over Elder, who was driving a sedan westbound on Route 303, for suspicion of driving under an OVI suspension.

But police said the car took off, prompting a chase.

“The officer observed a lot of movement inside the vehicle by the occupants and the passenger began throwing objects out of the window,” said Chief Sharon MacKay.

The vehicle finally stopped on Erhart Road at Speith Road in Litchfield, but officers thought the people inside were going to run away, the Brunswick Hills Police Department said.

They were right, but not before the vehicle was thrown in reverse and hit the police car.

According to the Brunswick Hills Police Department, when the officer repositioned the cruiser the two vehicles collided again.

After that, Elder is accused of exiting his vehicle and running into a cornfield.  He was eventually caught just before 3 a.m. and booked on five outstanding warrants.

Charges are pending, awaiting final review by the Medina County Prosecutor’s office.

A 23-year-old passenger was cited for open container and littering.
