Teen Fatally Shot in Apartment Identified

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit is investigating the death of a teen boy.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified him as Julian Gaines, 16, of Cleveland.

Police say Gaines was shot inside an apartment building on East 140th Street around 6 p.m. Thursday.

Officers responded and found the teen in a bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds all over his body.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses tell police they saw the suspect follow Gaines inside the apartment building, then shoot him several times.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a blue jumpsuit and grey hoodie. Police say he was armed with a black 9mm handgun.
