Teen Killed, Man Wounded in Akron Shooting

AKRON, Ohio — A teen was killed and another man was injured in a shooting outside of a store in Akron Friday afternoon.

Akron Police Lt. Rick Edwards said it happened at approximately 3:30 p.m. in front of Mr. Pantry on Copley Road, near Storer Avenue.

Officials say Willie Brewer, III, 17, was outside the store when he got into an altercation with another individual and was shot.

A 55-year-old man standing in the same area was also injured during the shooting.

Both victims were taken to Akron General Medical Center, where Brewer later died.

The man was still receiving treatment at the hospital Friday evening, and his identity is still not being released.

Edwards said police did not yet have a motive for the shooting; no one has been arrested.
