Suspect Indicted in Death of 9-Year-Old Girl

WAYNE COUNTY, OH — The suspect in the murder of a 9-year-old Wayne County girl has been indicted by a grand jury.

Jerrod E. Metsker was charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Murder, 3 counts of Kidnapping and 2 counts of Rape, all with specifications, in the death of Reann Murphy.

Bond was set by the Wayne County Common Pleas Court at one million dollars, according to the Wayne County prosecutor.

The Wayne County coroner determined that Reann died as a result of strangulation.

Metsker is accused of killing Reann sometime in the evening of December 14 and putting her body in a dumpster just yards from her home in the Wayne County town of Smithville.
