ELYRIA, Ohio-- The Elyria City School District issued a safety alert to parents after a two female high school students said a man approached them and demanded they "get in his car" while exposing himself.

According to Elyria police, it happened Wednesday at about 8:45 a.m. as the girls were walking east across the 3rd Street bridge.

The  suspect was driving a golden or tan SUV with stickers on the back and a busted out rear passenger side window.

“It’s a very big concern,” said Elyria Schools Superintendent Thomas Jama, “Our number one priority is the safety of our students and staff at all times.”

School administrators sent out a warning email blast to all parents and staff. The alert said:

"BE ON ALERT. If you see a vehicle or person matching this description please report this to immediately to the Elyria Police Department. Please report ANY suspicious behavior, vehicles, or persons to the Elyria Police Department immediately. Please remind students and parents to walk in groups and to run and tell a trusted adult immediately."

According to investigators, the man was spotted behaving suspiciously two other times by one of the same girls.

About a month ago, she said she saw the man  driving naked on 3rd Street and just two weeks back saw him parked near the old Roosevelt Elementary building; watching her walk home.  At that time she did not call the police, but became very scared after Wednesday's encounter.

Officials and officers are now encouraging everyone to vigilant because they say crimes of a sexual nature can and often do escalate.

“We continually tell our students if you see something say something,” said Superintendent Jama.
