ASHEBORO, North Carolina — State troopers in North Carolina have come up with a creative way to catch people texting and driving.
According to the Asheboro Courier-Tribune, the highway patrol tried a new texting and driving enforcement campaign earlier this month in North Carolina, where texting and driving is illegal.
Troopers in plain clothes rode in North Carolina Department of Transportation trucks on the highway. If they spotted someone texting and driving, they contacted other troopers in unmarked vehicles nearby.
The drivers were then stopped and cited.
Troopers say the campaign was very successful.
