AKRON, Ohio -- It was a dream come true for Nicole Johnson, 40, of Akron.
"I can’t believe it. The tears just started flowing. I am so grateful. Such a blessing, I am so happy; it's wonderful; it's amazing!" cried Johnson.
Johnson's name was pulled Thursday as the winner of the $500,000 2014 St. Jude Dream Home.
The house, built by Buckingham Homes, is located at 4220 Queens Gate in Avon, in the beautiful Red Tail Golf Course community.
"I was at work, and I had forgotten about the drawing. Then, all of a sudden I heard my name being paged that my husband was looking for me," said Johnson.
Johnson is a 20-year worker with the United States Postal Service.
She's a wife, mother, and grandmother of two.
"Nobody could deserve this more. She works so hard and she takes care of my grandmother, who is sick. This has been going on for two years," said Asia Davis, daughter.
Thursday afternoon, Johnson went to the hospital to tell her mother the news.
"I just couldn't believe it. She's been so good to me. She deserves it, she really does," said Christie Jeffries, Johnson's mother.
All because Johnson took a chance and bought a ticket to help the children of St. Jude.
"I would never be able to afford a house like that. It's such a blessing, such a blessing. I feel like, this is from God!" said Johnson.
Johnson says she has plans to go see the house either this weekend or Monday.
FOX 8 is a proud sponsor of the dream home giveaway.
