COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man has died after being pulled from Mirror Lake on the Ohio State University campus early Wednesday morning.

The University’s Office of Emergency Management said the man, who has not been identified, was pulled from the lake around 12:20 a.m.

The Columbus Dispatch posted video (we have embedded their video in our story) that showed paramedics performing CPR on the man while students continued to jump into the lake.

The university was unsure if the man was a student. They are asking other students who might have a missing roommate or knows the victim’s identify to call OSU Police.

Each year, thousands of students jump into Mirror Lake ahead of the Buckeye’s matchup against the Michigan Wolverines.

The tradition started back in 1990. For the past couple of years students were required to wear special “Beat Michigan” wristbands to get in.

OSU tweeted a warning on Tuesday advising students not to jump into or swim in the lake.
