STRONGSVILLE, Ohio — The search for a missing elderly man with dementia ended early Thursday when the man was located safely.

The Ohio Attorney General cancelled the Missing Adult Alert for Richard Waddell, 89, of Strongsville, around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

No details on where the man was found were released, but they said he was “located safely.”

Strongsville police asked for the public’s assistance in locating Waddell — who suffers from dementia — after he left his home Wednesday afternoon for a doctor’s appointment in Parma, but failed to show up.

Phone contact was made with Waddell around 5 p.m. Wednesday and he said he thought he was somehwere on the east side of Cleveland.
