(WJW) — Heavy storms Wednesday night led to intense flooding and highway rescues.

At about 9 p.m., according to police, all lanes of I-90 in Lakewood, between Warren Road and McKinley Avenue, were closed for flooding.

Lakewood firefighters had to use blow up raft boats to get people off the highway and to safety. Officials say ten people were rescued from seven vehicles.

I-90 reopened at about 1: 30 a.m. on Thursday.

In Parma, firefighters also used rafts to help residents stuck in floodwater at West 52nd and Brookpark.

FOX 8 crews saw cars stranded on a flooded roadway in Willoughby.

Along the Shoreway, right at Burke Lakefront Airport, the majority of the road was flooded. You can see cars driving through the water in ODOT video captured around 9 p.m.

Officials are reminding people to not drive through large amounts of water on roadways and to take shelter during thunderstorms.
