LAKEWOOD, Ohio — The St. Edward Eagles continued their strong start to the 2012 high school football season Saturday, with a lopsided 51-0 victory over visiting Woodson High School, from Washington, D.C. Running backs Dwayne Aaron and Kenny Butler each scored two touchdowns, with Aaron scoring twice in the first quarter, as the Eagles jumped out to a 37-0 halftime lead.

Senior quarterback Ryan Fallon and sophomore reserve Kyle Shurmur both played well in limited duty, and the St. Edward defense showed once again why many consider it among the best in the state, pitching its second straight shutout. The Eagles have not allowed a point in 10 quarters, since Glenville scored just before halftime of the season opening game.

But the schedule is about to get much tougher for St. Edward (3-0), which travels to Cincinnati next Saturday, September 15 to face the always tough Elder Panthers (2-1) at The Pit. The Eagles defeated Elder on their last trip to The Pit, back in 2010, on their way to the school’s first football State Championship.
