WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — Police are investigating after vandals spray-painted markings on a bank and a bar in downtown Willoughby.

According to police, the owner of Frank & Tony’s Place, located on Second Street, reported Monday afternoon that someone used yellow spray paint on the east side of the building, an electric meter, an air conditioning/heating unit on the roof, on the main door and on a concrete access drive.

Later Monday, another building owner reported yellow spray paint throughout the basement area at U.S. Bank on Erie and Second streets. No access was gained to the bank upstairs, said police.

Police say it appears someone gained access into the basement of the U.S. Bank. There was no forced entry on the basement man door, so police say it’s possible someone left that door unlocked.

Areas in that part of the building include an employee break room, bathrooms and a utility room. Multiple rooms, the ceiling, walls and an electrical panel were painted, said police.

No suspects have been identified.
