South Russell police rally to help officer’s 3-year-old son diagnosed with leukemia

SOUTH RUSSELL, Ohio -- The South Russell Police Department is rallying together to help the family of one of its own.

According to a GoFundMe account, Officer John Zippay's 3-year-old son, John Oliver, was diagnosed with leukemia on Nov. 1.

"The family has a very long road ahead and is need of our support," according to the page.

The department will participate in a "No Shave November" fundraiser and will dedicate the event to John.

Each officer will donate $50 and forgo shaving for the entire month of November.

They're also asking the public for any donations it would like to make to help the family.
