SOLON, Ohio– Several communities experienced whiteout conditions throughout the day on Tuesday.
Aurora Road in Solon was blanketed by heavy, white snowflakes for the greater part of Tuesday afternoon.
“It was pretty slow this morning. Even though there wasn’t all that much snow. But that’s typically how it is for first snow, people getting used to it and taking it easy,” said Joshua Heyka of Solon.
The lake effect snow bands hit the snowbelt communities, too. Geauga County is under a lake effect snow warning until midnight.
A lake effect snow advisory is in effect for Lake, Ashtabula Portage and Trumbull counties– also until midnight.
“The roads are really slushy. I thought I was going to crash a little while ago when I was on 271,” Sharon Polakoff of Cortland.
Some areas could see up to five to seven inches of snow.
“It’s been a pretty cold, snowy day. The snow has been off and on all day. Just wet,” said De’Leon Barbee of Solon.
ODOT warns drivers to leave with plenty of time and slow down.
The ground is already wet and slick, and with the additional snow, it could be a slow commute home.
