Solon police: woman killed, suspect in custody following traffic crash and shooting

SOLON, OH - Solon police have arrested one person in connection with the shooting death of a woman early Saturday morning.

The incident took place on the road at the intersection of Solon and Richmond Roads at around 7 a.m.

When police arrived on the scene, they found a man with a rifle, who was taken into custody. A woman who had been apparently shot several times was found in the road. She was taken to a hospital, where she died from her wounds.

The man is a 29-year-old North Ridgeville resident.

The identities of the suspect and the victim have not been released yet, pending charges and notification of family.

Police report that two vehicles were involved in a crash, in which the suspect's car rolled over a number of times. Police also said that it appeared that one of the cars drove through a red light at the intersection.

According to the police, there is no known connection between the suspect and the victim and there is no known motive for the shooting as of Saturday morning.

Solon Police and the Ohio Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Identification are continuing the investigation into this.
