SOLON, Ohio—Nearly 300 people will be affected when a Solon manufacturing plant closes within the next two years.

L’Oréal USA announced it will transfer its production to facilities in Florence, Kentucky and Franklin, New Jersey.

According to Rebecca A. Caruso, a spokesperson for L’Oréal USA, the decision to relocate “was taken to ensure that the company could meet the business growth for professional products anticipated in the future.”

Caruso explained that all shampoo and conditioner production will be handled at a single location in North America.

The company said the 260 employees affected by the Solon plant’s closure will receive assistance.

Those in good standing may have the opportunity to work elsewhere within the company.

People who are not able to relocate will receive financial support as outlined by severance policies and will also benefit from job placement assistance.

The Solon facility is scheduled to close at the end of 2013.

The L’Oréal USA distribution facility in Streetsboro, Ohio will not be impacted, Caruso said.
