CLEVELAND- The Cleveland Indians are still two months away from spring training, but crews continue their work at Progressive Field on a massive construction project.  On Friday, FOX 8 got a sneak peek on the renovations that continue at the 20-year-old facility.

The bullpen walls are now in place and the concrete has been poured in the layered bullpen area which will include three rows of unique seats in front of the field and bullpens.

“Our fans are excited about being closer to the action,” said Joel Hammond Indians Communications Coordinator.  “You are going to see those relievers much closer than in the past, warming up in those bullpens; your seat could be right next to the bullpen.”

In the upper deck of right field, the Terrace area is slowly coming together. The area will be for groups who were previously outside the ballpark and view of the playing field.  Also included in the project is a two-story bar that will be climate controlled and the expanded kids clubhouse for families to enjoy.

The former visitors' bullpen is also being completely redone. There will be seats built on top of where the visitors' bullpen used to sit in right field.  In addition, there will be field-level seats available in the same location.

“Another unique seating option that we are putting into this project,” Hammond said.

The Indians will not say what the price tag is on the project which continues to progress well thanks to some unusually warm weather last week and very little snowfall so far this season.  The project is expected to be completed in time for the Indians home opener on April 10 against the Detroit Tigers.
