SANDUSKY, Ohio-- Cedar Point says its latest ride will be the tallest, fastest and longest dive coaster in the world.

On Wednesday, the amusement park gave media members a behind-the-scenes look at the construction of Valravn. Last month, workers topped off the highest rails of the coaster, bringing it to a record-setting 223 feet.

"It's great for us to add to the collection that we already have. This is our fifth coaster over 200 feet tall.  Our guests, our coaster riders have high expectations. That's why when we do it,  it's got to be the tallest, the longest, the fastest of whatever iterations," Cedar Point Vice president Jason McClure said.

Riders will be dropped at a 90-degree angle and taken through a 165-foot-tall loop. Valravn will become the park's 18th coaster when it opens in May.

"We've been planning Valravn for over two years.  Working on the design you have to have a great plan because we build through the winter, through the snow, the cold, which is not your typical construction time of the year," McClure said. "We have to get that construction done on a tight time line. It's very precisely planned. It's exciting when it goes vertical."
