FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Police are looking for a woman seen on video violently throw a dog into the street in California.

The video, posted to Facebook, has gotten tens of thousands of views. It was posted on Dec. 19.

A woman at the home where the video was recorded told KTXL that her roommate is the suspect’s boyfriend.

The video shows the woman appear to carry the dog — a pug named Ben — by his leg and then throw him into the street. He rolls several times before a man picks him up and walks out of the view of the camera.

The witness said it all happened after the suspect and her boyfriend got into a fight. She said that people who witnessed the act wanted to take the dog, but the suspect stormed off with him before they could.

KTXL reports that police know who the woman is and are working to find her.

“We are currently looking for her at this time,” said Michael Ramirez, of Solano County Humane Animal Services. “She is from what I understand hiding from us.”

They believe she’s abused the same dog before.

“She was recently seen walking down the business district in Fairfield, and she apparently had the dog by the tail and she was swinging it around,” said Ramirez. “We are looking to file animal cruelty charges against her and have this dog removed from her because the dog doesn’t deserve that.”
