VERMILION, Ohio– A veteran of the Vermilion Police Department was busted for driving with a suspended license, although he almost got away with it.

Captain Mike Reinheimer was stopped by an Erie County Sheriff’s deputy after a random license plate search showed he had two suspensions on his driver’s license.

Reinheimer can be heard on body camera video asking the deputy to give him a break, even though most police agencies strictly forbid a motorist with a suspended license from driving.

Both the captain and the deputy were suspended without pay after the Erie County Sheriff learned of the incident and took action.

Fox 8’s Lorrie Taylor said Reinheimer will lose his job if he fails to have his license reinstated.
