SHAKER HTS, OH – Shaker Heights city council voted down a proposed ordinance that would ban pit bulls in that community. The vote was 5-2.
The ordinance was proposed in November of 2015 after a 71-year-old grandmother was mauled to death by a pit bull on Pennington Road. Annie Williams of Cleveland was visiting a family member in Shaker Heights in July.
The ban under consideration would have allowed pit bulls currently living in Shaker Heights to stay. But no other pit bulls would have been allowed to move in.
