COLUMBUS, Ohio – One Red Robin waitress knew she had to do something nice after 9 police officers were seated in her section.

According to NBC 4, the officers came in to eat following the funeral of Officer Steven Smith.

Smith died after the injuries he suffered during a shooting last week.

Jessica Dunbar was talking with the officers when they told her about their day. That’s when she decided to do something small, but very meaningful.

When the $123 check came, she picked it up.

Instead of a check, she wrote the officers a note. “Officers, Your bill is on me today. I can’t imagine the day you all have had, let alone what you go through every day. I hope your days get better. So much respect. #WeSeeYou #PoliceLivesMatter #RIPOfficerSmith”

“I just wanted to do something nice,” Dunbar said. “You can’t put a dollar amount on making somebody happy.”

“It really touched all of our hearts,” one of the officers said.
