STRONGSVILLE, Ohio — There was increased patrol at Strongsville High School Thursday after a threat was posted through the Streetchat app.
According to Strongsville Supt. John Krupinski, high school administration was notified of a threatening post that appeared on the app Wednesday afternoon. The post alleged a shooting was to take place at 8 a.m. Thursday at Strongsville High School.
While the original post has been removed, the school resource officer was notified, and six Strongsville police officers were dispatched to the high school Thursday morning. All staff members were also on alert. The school was not closed or placed on lock down.
Streetchat is a messaging app aimed at students. It uses a GPS system to allow users to select their school and see a news feed from other students. Users can also communicate with each other through the app.
Krupinski said administrators will be working with Streetchat to ID the author of the post.
