COLUMBUS, Ohio– Security was stepped up at The Ohio State University Wednesday after the police department was informed of the threat of a potential shooting at an unspecified “cafeteria at The Ohio State University.”

The threat was reportedly posted to fantasy, role player game sites.

A public safety notice was issued and police and security patrols were stepped up on and around campus dining facilities, including at the Wexner Medical Center.

The university said that although the window of concern has past, they will maintain the increased presence and heightened awareness for as long as necessary.

The school said it felt it was important to notify everyone of this threat in order to raise  awareness and to remind everyone to report any suspicious activity or individuals to authorities.
