COLUMBUS, GA — Students at Calvary Christian School got an early Christmas present from their headmaster: a day off.
Classes were canceled Friday because of the warm, beautiful weather, according to WRBL.
The decision stems from a promise Headmaster Mr. Len McWilliams made to himself 25 years ago. McWilliams said he called off one winter day because of bad weather. He promised himself that before he retires, he would call school off for a day when it was too beautiful to be inside.
McWilliams encouraged families to spend the day together.
He plans to retire after the 2013-2014 school year.
