SANDUSKY, Ohio -- A convicted sex offender is under arrest for the murders of a young Sandusky mother and her two small children.

Monday, Sandusky Police arrested Curtis Clinton, 41, of Sandusky, for the murders of Heather Jackson, 23, and her two children, three-year-old Celina Jackson and 18-month-old Wayne Jackson, III.

“Mr. Clinton was arrested and is currently incarcerated in Erie County Jail for three counts of aggravated murder in this investigation. Mr. Clinton has also been charged with a rape count for an incident which happened last week which was unrelated to this case,” Lt. John Orzech said.

Friends of Jackson’s family discovered her body on Saturday night.  Her family had been concerned because they hadn’t heard from her.

“The apparent cause of death has been determined as strangulation,” Orzech said.

Police said Jackson had known Clinton as an acquaintance for about five months.

Investigators believe Clinton acted alone, but they do not have a motive.

“To the best of our knowledge, he was invited into the home.  Like I said, he was a friend. There was no sign of forced entry into the residence,” Orzech said.

Family members of the victims were there as police announced Clinton’s arrest.

They said the baby, Wayne, had previously survived two brain surgeries.

“There’s still all those answers that we need and want to know now, and we’re not going to know for... if ever,” Heather Jackson’s cousin, Erin Miller, said.

“It makes me feel better that he’s caught, but it doesn’t change the fact that they’re gone, so it’s a lose-lose situation either way,” Katie Miller said.

Clinton is due in court Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.

Jackson's family members said donations are being taken at Citizens Bank in Sandusky under the name 'Heather Jackson Family Fund.'

A fundraiser, 'Hair for Heather,' runs Tuesday through Friday at Generations Hair Studio, located at 1822 Milan Road in Sandusky.

A fundraising car show will take place at O'Reilly Auto Parts in Sandusky on Sept. 23.
