GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ohio — They say life is full of surprises, and Sunday morning was the surprise of a lifetime for McKenzie Acierno of Geneva-On-The-Lake and her husband, Mike.

“Around seven in the morning, I started getting stomach pains.  And at first they weren’t too bad, then they started to get worse,” said McKenzie.

McKenzie was going into labor, and she didn’t know she was pregnant.

“I said to him, ‘I almost feel like I’m having a baby.’  And he’s like, ‘no you’re not.’  And then, not even an hour later, I told him, ‘you have to call an ambulance, now!'” said McKenzie.

On a recorded 911 all, Mike can be heard saying, “My wife needs an ambulance.  I don’t know what’s wrong.  She’s having really horrible stomach pain.”

“So, the police show up and the female officer asks me, ‘is she pregnant?’  Well, we don’t think so.  But stranger things have happened,” laughed Mike.

And sure enough it was a baby girl full-term, ready to meet the world.

“The pain was so much that I wouldn’t have cared if Donald Duck was down there delivering the baby at that point.  But I’m glad it was a female officer on duty that day, I will say that,” added McKenzie.

The female officer on duty was rookie officer Sandra Davis and her partner, Robert Mack.

An ambulance would not make it in time, so Sandra took charge as McKenzie went into labor.

“It was a lot of instinct.  And movies, I guess. Because that’s what this feels like, a movie,” said Sandra.

“Never in a million years would we ever think that we would get a baby call, that a baby would come,” added Robert.

And in an odd turn of events, Sandra was only filling in for another officer who was off because his wife was having a baby.

“I came in to cover his shift.  And the stars just aligned,” laughed Sandra.

And now a surprised family of four is a happy family of five.

“I didn’t have the weight gain that I did with my other kids.  I was actually wearing the same clothes,” said McKenzie.

“You wake up one morning with two kids and they hand you another, it’s surreal.  But nice,” added Mike.

The family is reportedly split about naming the baby girl Isabella or Abigail.
