ONTARIO, Ohio- The Richland County Sheriff’s Office is asking for information and video after a bank manager’s family was held hostage on Friday.

The employee told authorities his family was held hostage while he was forced to go to the Key Bank on Lex-Springmill Road in Ontario. He collected cash and gave it to the hostage-taker, who then released the family.

According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect’s car was a 2010-2012 tan Ford Taurus or a vehicle similar in style.

The sheriff’s office wants residents in the Millsboro Road area of Springfield, Sandusky and Troy townships to check for surveillance video from Friday between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m.

“We are not concerned whether the video shows the suspect vehicle. We want to view all activity in that area during those times,” the sheriff’s office said.

The case remains under investigation by Richland County, Ontario police and the FBI.

Anyone with information should call the major crimes unit at 419-774-5610.
