Reward offered in case of sunbather seriously injured by firework

NORTHFIELD, Ohio — A reward is being offered for the person responsible for throwing an explosive device on a patio, injuring a sunbather.

According to Summit County Crimestoppers, it happened on June 29, 2014, but investigators have recently hit a dead-end in the case.

The incident happened on Vincent Avenue. Police were called there for reports of a firework or other explosive device thrown into a backyard patio area where a resident was sunbathing. The firework detonated near the resident’s head. The victim suffered a 25 percent hearing loss.

Northfield Village Police are asking the public for help and asking for information on the person or persons involved.

Summit County Crimestoppers are offering up to $2,000, and a resident is offering an additional $500 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case.
