CLEVELAND– A Cleveland police officer came home to find a big surprise in his front yard.
Neighbors in Cleveland’s West Park area piled up donations of drinks and snacks outside his home. The residents know the man and his fellow officers could have a long week patrolling and protecting streets during the Republican National Convention.
While law enforcement nationwide finds itself under intense scrutiny and often criticism, this gesture has encouraged Cleveland officers in advance of an expected stressful week.
The RNC runs from July 18 to July 21 in downtown Cleveland. The Cleveland Division of Police will be joined by thousands of other officers from across the country, as well as the FBI and Secret Service.
