CLEVELAND – Former House of Representatives speaker Newt Gingrich joined Fox 8 News in the Morning from the floor of the Convention Center on Monday, the opening day of the 2016 Republican National Convention.

The former speaker addressed security concerns at the convention and for the nation as a whole. He told Fox 8 that he had no qualms about security at the convention, but that nationally, he is very concerned about what he termed the “war on policemen.”

Gingrich also talked about Donald Trump as a Republican Party unifier, and admitted that finding a new national identity after 8 years of a Democratic White House will be tough.
