CLEVELAND, Ohio — Police Union President Steve Loomis says he will ask Ohio’s governor to ban all open carrying of weapons in Cuyahoga County for this week.
This comes after the deadly ambush of officers in Baton Rouge and with possible unrest here tied to the Republican National Convention.
Loomis said lawyers are putting the request together now and will send it to the governor’s office.
Loomis said he is also demanding an end to having officers working solo at intersections as part of the RNC security. He says they are in danger and “at a minimum should be in threes”.
