CLEVELAND, Ohio– There are two local Black Lives Matter organizations here and both have different plans for the RNC.

Neither of the two local organizations, Black Lives Matter of Cleveland or Black Lives Matter of Cuyahoga County applied for a formal permit to take part in marches during next week’s RNC.

But some Black Lives Matter of Cleveland members say even though they didn’t get a permit they may still hold a protest.

Black Lives Matter of Cleveland is part of the global network of chapters worldwide.
Jeff Mixon and his organization, which he calls Black Lives Matter of Cuyahoga County- an independent group- says his group won’t be at next week’s event. Mixon says he hopes all protests will remain peaceful next week.
