Mars Inc. is considering taking M&Ms out of sugary dessert treats like the McDonald’s McFlurry, Reuters reports.

An industry source told Reuters Mars has had talks with McDonald’s and other “partners” about the idea. Recipe reformulations are also under consideration.

Reuters reports that the concern is that the sugar in its treats and used in desserts like the McFlurry and Dairy Queen Blizzard exceed the single serving amount of sugar recommended be consumed by anyone in a day.

In the past, the company has said it will try to cut back on sugar in its products.

A Mars spokesman said in a statement to Reuters:

“We are now working alongside our suppliers and customers to bring this commitment to life.”
