CLEVELAND — It’s the letter that many said weighed heavily in LeBron’s decision on whether or not to come back home to Cleveland; the letter written by Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert in 2010 when the basketball star announced in front of the world that he was taking his talents to South Beach.
That letter remained posted on the Cavs’ website until news came out that LeBron was seriously considering a move back to Cleveland.
Now, Yahoo Sports is revealing how that letter reportedly took center stage at a secret meeting between Dan Gilbert and LeBron James on Sunday.

According to Yahoo Sports, Gilbert told James, “We had five great years together and one terrible night. I told him how sorry I was, expressed regret for how that night went and how I let all the emotion and passion for the situation carry me away. I told him I wish I had never done it, that I wish I could take it back.”
Then, LeBron reportedly told Gilbert he wished he had never done “The Decision” on cable television and that they could move past it, according to Yahoo Sports.
Fast forward to Friday, and LeBron making it official: He’s ‘Coming Home’ after four years in Miami.
