CLEVELAND — Authorities have cleared a downtown Cleveland women’s shelter after reports of a bomb Saturday night.
The Cleveland Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the Norma Herr Women’s Center in the 2200 block of Payne Avenue around 8:30 p.m.
According to Cleveland police, firefighters arrived on scene and determined there wasn’t a fire. That’s when police received reports of a bomb threat at the shelter.
On any given day, more than 100 women are staying at the shelter.
The shelter was evacuated while crews conducted their investigation. Police closed several roads.
Explosive detection canines searched the building and police determined there was no evidence of explosives.
The roads have since been reopened and occupants were allowed back inside the building.
Officials are continuing their investigation.
