PHILADELPHIA, PA - Rep. Marcia Fudge of Ohio says she is "happy to serve" as chair of the Democratic National Convention this week in Philadelphia.

This comes on the heels of the Wikileaks email scandal that exposed possible favoritism in the party, and at the same time, may have weakened party unity.

Congresswoman Fudge met with the Ohio delegation this morning at their hotel in Philadelphia.

Fox 8's Tracy McCool, in Philadelphia all week for Fox 8's DNC coverage, talked with Fudge this morning and asked her if the controversy surrounding the ousting of Wasserman Schultz will hurt the unity of the Democratic Party.  Fudge told Tracy that it absolutely would not.  The Congresswoman also added that she is honored to take the stage, and preside over this historic convention. And that Fudge  she is looking forward to a "great convention and our ongoing efforts as we work together for a strong party and a successful election."

Still in question is what role Democratic National Committee Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz will play during the convention. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders says she should step down after some 19,000 DNC emails were leaked that suggested committee officials favored Hillary Clinton during the party's primary.

Barney Frank, co-chair of the rules committee at the Democratic National Convention, says it was never expected that Wasserman Schultz would preside over convention proceedings this week.

Frank says Fudge was on the list to be convention chair "long before" the emails were leaked. He notes that heads of the Democratic National Committee are never picked to oversee convention proceedings.
