TOLEDO, Ohio – Hundreds of thousands of Toledo area residents are still without water.

The American Red Cross is working to partner with state emergency management, government officials, and the community to get water to those in need. The organization started handing out water to people in need Saturday night.

The Cleveland Red Cross said it has not been called in to assist with the Toledo water emergency. It does have emergency response vehicles on standby in the event that the city does need help. The Red Cross said it is not in need of donations of water or supplies to help Toledo residents at this time.

Cleveland water is safe to drink and is being closely monitored, according to Cleveland officials.

The Red Cross is always accepting donations at, or calling 1-800-RED CROSS, or texting the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
